Happy October! Glad We'll Miss Ya, Joaquin!

It's one of my favorites times of the year! Happy October! Happy Halloween month! It's time for things to cool down and for the leaves to start turning colors.

If you live on the East Coast you are well aware of Hurricane Joaquin, and all the spaghetti monster models showing it's possible path. Well, it now looks like he's going to miss us completely, which is great. But, here in Virginia, we are still getting lots and lots and lots of rain, with some areas already flooding, with more to come.  

Alas, everything is pretty much canceled this weekend; all the normal Farmer's Markets, Fall Festivals, Art Festivals, everything. It feels like a good excuse to have a nice, quiet weekend with nowhere to go and nothing to do. I'll take it!

Haunted House built and decorated by my husband, because if I did it the building would surely collapse. ha. Okay, I did make that fabulous walkway. ☺

My talented sister made the very precious double sided quilt (Halloween on one side, Fall on the other).

Christmas Delights 2013

Here is a little Christmas cheer that is going on around our house. 

Jason decorated Gingerbread house. I approved. =)

I spy a little village peeking in the mirror.

This year's Dickens Christmas Village setup. 

Jason made a starry night sky background that I am in love with. 

I love our tree, but I felt like something was missing. Something from my childhood.

Then it hit me. Tinsel! I love tinsel. 

Tinsel. Everywhere. 

I know I'm probably in the minority these days on the tinsel, but then I also love the big old fashioned colored lights on my tree, too. 

A sweet little Christmas handkerchief my sister included in her homemade Christmas card. 

I love poinsettias, and Jason found some at Lowe's last week for 0.62 cent a piece. 

There is nothing better than the smell of pumpkin pie. 

I don't even mind the cleanup. As long as Jason is doing the baking. =)

I hope everyone has a wonderful and peaceful Christmas this year. 

For those going through hard times, be it health, family, money; I pray for better times for you and yours. 

Christmas Time is Here!

Hello! Hello! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I am now going to bombard this blog with Christmas until the end of December. That's how much I love it and how excited I am to have someone else in my life who loves it, too. 

Here are a few instagrams from this weekend. 

This is the first of probably many I will post of my Dickens' Village. I love it so much. 

Yesterday we made four tiny little gingerbread houses from a kit. This was not my idea of fun at first. Very messy, and there is no way we could get them to look like they do on the box. That's a joke. 

But, as Jason said, even at their worst, they are very cute, and we will get better next year. 

I said, "Next year? You're going to make me do this again?" ha!

Don't worry, I will, because the final product is too cute not to.
